WHISKEY CHAIR
BY EVA WAHLSTRÖM
ABOUT THE CHAIR
The Whiskey Chair has been produced responsibly as a domestic craft from quality elm/oak and beautifully coloured Finnish chrome tanned leather. Thanks to the character-filled elm/oak, every chair is unique. With the production methods and material choices, we have aimed to minimize the carbon footprint without compromising the quality.
The designing of the Whiskey Chair has been guided by an understanding that with careful designing of furniture and architecture one can support the mental well being of a human. That is why essential parts of the furniture are displayed by the interesting structure, timeless shape, natural materials and craftsmanship, obviously not forgetting ergonomics. Whiskey chair got its name from a mental image that was the basis of the design: an old man sits on his chair by the sea thinking about his life, enjoying his whiskey.
The first prototype of the chair was completed in 2017. It was followed by a number of years of searching and comparing manufacturer candidates. The manufacturer was given a few unconditional requirements: the chair
must be made as craftwork in Finland and there is no compromising in the ecological matters or the quality of materials. After a couple years of
searching the manufacturer was selected – the professional and experienced Paattimaakarit. Tikkimaakarit came along through “Pama” and
they are responsible for the upholstery of the Whiskey chair.
