EVA
Eva Wahlström is a sixtime world champion professional boxer. Alongside her sporting career she has studied Spatial- and furniture design at Aalto University. She graduated as Bachelor of Arts in 2018 and works nowadays as furniture designer, artist and corporate trainer.
”- I see a lot of similarities with design and sport. Boxing is art to me. I wanted my boxing to be beautiful and esthetical, like dancing. In furniture I can see similar edges and directions as what I saw when boxing; with punches and movement there is direction, they aim at certain angles to the opponent and this all happens within a rope
enclosed square. When it comes to furniture it is similar: the structure that is in relation to each other amid certain limiting conditions. From doing sports, I have come to understand the positions where the body is strong and similar type ’positions’ are also strong as structures of the
furniture. My journey to becoming a furniture designer is exceptional, and I hope my history reflects in my products. It is important for me to design quality and timeless products that bring added value to the daily life of people.”
